After running, walking and cycling alongside it, crossing it and staring at it, I finally felt it was time to be ON it. If you’re even considering seeing Manhattan from one of the busiest bodies of water known as the Hudson River (Or indeed the East River) there’s only one man you should consider – Captain Paul Sprieser. As a ferry boat captain on the river there is truly no better qualified guide or indeed more fun. Behind every good Captain is great Chief Mate and no one more so than Paul’s lovely wife Kerri. We were treated to a very warm welcome from the moment we stepped on to pier 25…
Paul’s Boat the good ship (PIACERE), is everything you want it to be…. Very comfortable with great viewing decks, homely, stable, safe with all mod cons. We spent the morning pootling up and down the Hudson visiting the US Intrepid, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and Paul and Kerri’s knowledge of the river is matched by their knowledge of local landmarks, history, trivia and lore.
Our time with them on the river was amazing. If you want a fun, safe informative day on the river/ rivers or indeed circumnavigating the whole of Manhattan! Paul and Kerri should definitely be your first port of call.

My wife and I were lucky enough to book the day after our wedding with Bella Yacht Charters in September of 2014. We were looking to do something special and that’s exactly what it was. Captain Paul cruised us around the Hudson River where we enjoyed breathtaking views of the NYC Skyline, Statue of Liberty, and even the monumental bridges. If that wasn’t enough, he and his deckhand, made us feel as if it were our own yacht and kept us smiling the entire time. Plus, good food and wine!
